Baez Jean-François

Né en 1958, Jean-François BAEZ est issu d’une famille de musiciens. Il commence l’accordéon à l’âge de 7 ans et étudie au conservatoire de Lyon ou il obtient une médaille de solfège en degré Supérieur.

Depuis le début des années 90, il s’intéresse à la musique improvisée et au jazz et intègre en 1995 le collectif de l’ARFI dans lequel il restera jusqu’en 2002 lui permettant de participer à de nombreuses créations dont  Sabado Domingo avec le groupe Baron, Samedi Festin d’Oreille spectacle musico-culinaire, Paris Girls spectacle mêlant film et musique commandée par Ciné Mémoire pour l’Auditorium du Louvre.

Durant cette période il enregistre le disque de Louis Sclavis « danses et autres scènes »

En 2000, il rencontre le maître du jonglage moderne Jérôme Thomas.

Ils vont créer ensemble « Duo » un spectacle basé sur l’improvisation, hymne à la liberté de jouer, de créer, de dialoguer avec le public, ce spectacle sera joué dans plus de 40 pays.

Parallèlement il participe à la création du « Cirque Lili » sur une musique de Guy Klucevsek.

En 2013, avec Jérôme Thomas, il va créer Forest dont il écrit la partition originale. L’oeuvre est jouée pour la première fois aux Nuits de Fourvière.

En 2000, il intègre Jazz action Valence et depuis développe une méthode sur « l’accordéon et l’improvisation ».

En 2003, création du « Jean-François Baez trio » avec Pascal Berne et Jean-Charles Richard sur des compositions originales. De nombreux concerts et festivals ont lieu en France et à l’étranger.

Il enregistre l’album « Nikita » distribué par Harmonia mundi.

Depuis 2015 il participe au projet de Stracho Temelkoski « Sound Braka » avec une résidence de 3 ans en 2023 sur une commandée de Jazz à Vienne.

En 2023, il enregistre son album solo « Dilemme » sur des compositions originales.







Born in 1958, Jean-François BAEZ comes from a family of musicians. He started playing the accordion at the age of 7 and studied at the Lyon Conservatory where he obtained a higher degree music theory medal.

Since the beginning of the 90s, he has been interested in improvised music and jazz and in 1995 joined the ARFI collective in which he remained until 2002, allowing him to participate in numerous creations including: Sabado Domingo with the group Baron, Samedi Festin d'Oreille musical-culinary show, Paris Girls show combining film and music commissioned by Ciné Mémoire for the Louvre Auditorium.

During this period he recorded Louis Sclavis' disc "dances and other scenes" In 2000, he met the master of modern juggling Jérôme Thomas. Together they will create “Duo”, a show based on improvisation, an anthem to the freedom to play, to create, to dialogue with the public, this show will be performed in more than 40 countries.

At the same time he participated in the creation of “Cirque Lili” with music by Guy Klucevsek.
